Which galaxy is our solar system located in?

The solar system is located in the Milky Way Galaxy, a spiral galaxy that is home to hundreds of billions of stars, as well as numerous planets, including Earth. The Milky Way is characterized by its distinctive spiral arms, which contain a higher density of stars and interstellar matter compared to the galactic center and outer regions. The solar system is situated in one of these arms, known as the Orion Arm, which lies between two larger arms, the Perseus Arm and the Sagittarius Arm.

In contrast, the Andromeda Galaxy, Triangulum Galaxy, and Sombrero Galaxy are separate galaxies. Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way and is on a collision course with it but is not home to our solar system. The Triangulum Galaxy is another spiral galaxy, known for being the third-largest member of the Local Group, of which our Milky Way is the largest. Finally, the Sombrero Galaxy is a distinct spiral galaxy recognized for its bright nucleus and prominent dust lane but does not contain our solar system. Each of these galaxies is fascinating in its own right, but they are not where our solar system resides.
